Bodily transitions

2018-2020
textile, wood, paper
Presented in Galleri KiT (2020) and Solsiden (2019), Trondheim

The project reflects on the body’s steadiness and elasticity in the various transitions and transformations it undergoes in a lifetime – the body’s ability to return to its original shape after being stretched or compressed. By abstracting the human body it undergoes a transformation and alienation also within the project. This is an alienation one can recognize through various stages of life – illness and health, pregnancy and childbirth, in growing from one’s childish body to becoming a full-grown body, constantly aging. The transformation is found in the duality between the hard and the soft, the fixed and the elastic, the hidden and the exposed.
